We believe Heaven is a literal place and that God’s throne is in the Third Heaven. Saved Church-Age believers who die are presently with the Lord in Heaven, awaiting the resurrection and transformation of the body.
We believe Hell is a literal place of conscious fiery torment for the souls of the unsaved dead. Hell is not merely the grave and is distinct from the final Lake of Fire.
Before Christ’s resurrection, righteous Old Testament dead went to Paradise, also called Abraham’s Bosom, in the heart of the earth, separated from the place of torment by a great gulf. After Christ’s completed redemptive work, those saints were taken upward.
We believe the Lake of Fire is the final eternal destination of Satan, the Beast, the False Prophet, and all whose names are not found written in the Book of Life. It is distinct from Hell and is called the second death.
